The Barbee Brothers of Company I Sixth North Carolina State Troops The Barbee family appears in the 1860 Federal Census living in the eastern district of the county of Chatam. William, a 45 year old farmer and his wife Eliza, age 47, have 7 children living in their household. Thomas (22), Henry (21), Rufus (18), Cornelia (16), Ann (12), William (7) and Milly (5). The three eldest brothers answered the call of the Confederacy. Only two survived. Here are their stories.
